One of my favorite time travel daydreams is to experience mid-century Las Vegas. An era before it got the whole "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" moniker and became the bachelor party capital of the world. There's something magical about a mid-century casino in the desert with a member of the Rat Pack playing in the lounge. Gone are the days of the old school signs with millions of twinkling bulbs and subtle details. Nowadays, it's mostly giant video boards playing scenes from the current musician in residence.
I briefly lived in Las Vegas in 2005, working for a sales and marketing group at the Hard Rock Hotel. It was in the middle of a giant residential development boom in Las Vegas, and every group imaginable was buying up property and tearing down old ones. Since then, I've found it fascinating how quickly resorts get torn down and rebuilt. It's a constant race to build something newer and more extravagant, and I wish I had the time to do a deep dive into the history of some of the casinos on this list. I've avoided getting too caught up in the modern casinos, as they change names frequently, and most of their logos aren't even worth featuring. If I missed anything obvious, reach out on twitter and let me know.
